| Brimfield, Ridgewood Move Up in AP Poll's Top Ten |
Three local girls basketball teams remain in the Associated Press top ten rankings. Brimfield (17-3) is the new #1 ranked team in Class 1A after leaping two spots. The Indians received five votes for the top ranking. Ridgewood (18-1) moved up two spots to #3 and Knoxville (18-6) dropped four spots to #6. Annawan, which was ranked #7 in last week's poll, dropped out of the top ten. South Fulton received votes for consideration but not enough to get in. Rock Island Alleman (13-7) of the Western Big Six Conference moved down one spot to #4 in Class 2A. Bloomington Central Catholic (17-0) remains the top-ranked team in 2A. Monmouth-Roseville (14-5) received four votes for top ten consideration. Havana (18-2), ranked #5 in Class 1A, defeated the Titans 65-40 last night in the Camp Point Central tournament. Peoria Richwoods (13-3), which was upset by Peoria Manual 60-57 Tuesday night, began this week at #5 in Class 3A, down one spot from last week. Lombard Montini (18-1) is again the top-ranked team in 3A. Moline is the second Big Six school ranked by the AP. The Maroons (19-1) are #3 again this week. Bolingbrook and Chicago Whitney Young also remain at numbers 1 and 2, respectively, in the latest poll. |
