High School Girls Basketball
Galesburg finally got that elusive first Western Big Six Conference win, and did it convincingly. The Silver Streaks shot well against Quincy (10-6, 2-3) from the start by opening up a 26-11 first quarter lead and never looked back, winning 81-56. The loss avenges a Quincy victory back in November against GHS. Galesburg (13-8, 1-5) connected on 13 three-point baskets, including four each from Jessica Howard and Mickey Rodriguez. Rodriguez scored 16 points and Howard had 12. Ten Streak players scored in the game, led by Sara Baker's 17 points. Jordan Fletcher scored a game-high 22 points for Quincy. Galesburg has won four of its last five games. Quincy lost its second straight game after not playing since December 19th. Galesburg's sophomore team was also a winner against Quincy 58-37. Jessica Lieber scored 16 points and Myra Diggins 12 for the Silver Streaks (9-8, 2-4).
