|Monmouth, Knox Colleges Hosting Cancer Benefit
|Monmouth and Knox Colleges will put a rivalry that dates back to the 1800s on the back burner this weekend when they team up to fight cancer.
The Student Athlete Advisory Committees (SAAC) of the two schools are hosting a cancer research fundraiser. Miles for Myles is an initiative designed to perpetuate the legacy of leadership of NCAA President Myles Brand, who lost his battle with cancer last fall, and to carry on his valiant fight against pancreatic cancer. To remember Brand, MC's athletic department, in cooperation with its colleagues at Knox, will host an indoor three-mile Fun Run/Walk event Saturday, January 30th, at Knox College's T. Fleming Fieldhouse.
Each person participating in the Miles for Myles event is asked to donate a minimum of $3 ($1 per mile), which will go directly to Coaches vs. Cancer to fight pancreatic cancer. Registration for the event begins at 9:30 a.m. with the run/walk to begin at 10 a.m.
Monmouth's basketball teams will battle Knox later in the day at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
