|Knox College Track Athlete Holds New Record for Prairie Fire
|Knox College senior Christina Davis recently broke the school record in weight throw at the Monmouth College Invitational.
Davis improved her previous record by almost three feet, breaking the school record with a throw of 44' 1 1/4". The previous school record (42 feet, 7 inches) was held by Morgan Spanel and was set nearly 10 years ago on February 19, 2000. Coach Dan Zierfuss commended Davis on her hard work, saying "this is a testament to the hard work she has put in and her dedication to the event has led her to break the school record. I am very proud of her."
Not only did Davis, a native of from Dolton, Illinois (Thornridge High School), break the school record but she also took third at the Invitational just 5 1/2 inches behind Monmouth College's Maureen Dewan. Davis, a four-year letter winner in volleyball and one-year letter winner in softball, is in her third year of indoor and outdoor track and field.
The Prairie Fire travel to Bloomington for the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational, which steps off at 10 a.m. January 30th.
