| Chargers Overpower Knox JV Squad |
Carl Sandburg College's men's basketball team won at home Monday night over Knox College's JV team 79-59.
Sandburg (8-7) was led in scoring by Jeremy Sewell with 14 points. Isiah Cunningham had 13 and Drake Webster added 12. The Chargers begin Arrowhead Conference play Tuesday night at home against Illinois Valley College. The tipoff is at 7:30 p-m.
CSC coach Ryan Twaddle says the team got stops. "I was happy with our defense in the second half," Twaddle said. "We were able to hold them to 34% (shooting) from the field."
"Getting stops is our key to winning games," Twaddle added. "We can't continue to trade possessions and try to outscore everyone. Knox had great ball movement tonight and found the open man and made us pay, a lot like our conference teams will do. This was a great way to start to new year." |
