Lowpoint-Washburn beat Princeville 66-51 in non-conference play

Women's College Basketball

Knox College had a commanding lead in the second half against Rockford College but the Regents wouldn't go quietly before eventually falling to the Prairie Fire at Memorial Gymnasium.

Knox beat Rockford 62-59 in overtime. Kate Moon led the Prairie Fire (5-3) with 14 points.

Knox led 43-30 lead with 16 minutes left in the 2nd half, but went over 10 minutes without a basket and Rockford took advantage by coming all the way back to take a 44-43 lead with a little over 7:00 to play.

The Prairie Fire regained the lead at 54-51 after junior Jenny Haskell sank two free throws with 11 seconds left. Regents guard Britney Curry ran the length of the court to sink a huge three-point basket to tie the game with five seconds left. The Prairie Fire were unable to get a shot off, sending the game was sent to overtime.

Lynn Mueller scored five of the eight points in the extra period for the Prairie Fire, and Jenny Haskell had two key steals to give the Knox the victory.

Moon added a team-high nine rebounds to go with her 14 points. Mueller had 10 points, three rebounds, and three steals and Kelly Ricketts scored 9 points.

The team's next victory will tie the entire win total from last season.
