| Green's Stay in St. Louis Brief |
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Two people familiar with the negotiations tell The Associated Press that free agent infielder Khalil Greene had agreed to a one-year contract to fill a utility role for the Texas Rangers. The people spoke on condition of anonymity because the contract hasn't been finalized. One of the people said Monday that a physical was pending. The Rangers were looking for a utility infielder who could play shortstop after the departure of free agent Omar Vizquel, who agreed to a $1.4 million deal with the Chicago White Sox in November. Greene spent last season with St. Louis, where he hit .200 with six homers in 77 games. Before that, he was the starting shortstop for San Diego from 2004-08. (Copyright 2010 by The Associated Press.
