HIGH SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL

The Galesburg Silver Streaks Boys Basketball team got a pair of victories Saturday in the annual Martin Luther King Day Invitational at GHS. The Streaks defeated Marian Catholic in the early game 73-52, and then squeaked out a victory against #4 ranked Warren Township 54-53. The Streaks boys and girls play in the tournament again Monday, with the boys taking on Minooka starting with a 10:40am pregame on WGIL, then the girls play at Knox College versus Morton, and then the Streaks boys take on York in the evening. The other two games also will be heard on WGIL.

HIGH SCHOOL SWIMMING AND DIVING

Galesburg placed 13th at the 14-team Grayhound Invitational Swim Meet at Burlington Saturday. Muscatine took first place.

HIGH SCHOOL BOWLING

The GHS Bowling Invitational was back at Northgate Lanes yesterday after last year's fire at the alley, but it wasn't a good day for the Streaks bowlers. The Streaks placed fifth at the 8-team invitational, with Sterling taking top honors, followed by Decatur Eisenhower, United Township, and Rock Island taking top honors. Kendra Weichmann's 1136 series, including a 215 in her fourth game, led the Streaks. Galesburg teams took 4th and 12th on the J/V side. Taryn Watters' 965 series, and Ali DePauw's 718 series, led the Streaks there.

COLLEGE WRESTLING

Knox College placed 7th out of 11 teams at the annual "Spartan Mat Classic" at Manchester College Saturday.
