| Illini Junior Lineman Liuget Headed for NFL Draft |
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -- Illinois defensive lineman Corey Liuget will skip his senior season and enter the NFL draft.
The university said in a news release Wednesday that the tackle has decided to join linebacker Martez Wilson and running back Mikel Leshoure in leaving Illinois a year early.
Liuget is considered a potential first-round pick in the April draft. In a statement, Liuget thanked his coaches, teammates and fans for their support.
Head coach Ron Zook said Liuget emerged as the anchor of the Illini defensive line in 2010.
Liuget was a second-team All Big Ten pick in 2010, who had 4.5 sacks and 63 tackles. The 6-3, 300-pound Liuget is from Miami.
