BREAKING NEWS: Galesburg High School Selects New Football Coach
UPDATED 12:45pm 1/3/11 Galesburg High School will likely soon have a new varsity football coach.

District Superintendent Gene Denisar says the district has picked Tim Dougherty as the next Silver Streaks varsity football coach, replacing Wes Olson, who resigned at the end of this past season to focus on his day job as director of the district's alternative high school.

He's in New Lenox now, but Denisar says Dougherty spent 16 years as the football coach at Edwardsville High School, garnering a combined 132 wins and 40 losses, taking his teams to the state playoffs 12 of those years.

The District-205 school board must still approve Dougherty's hiring, which is expected to come next Monday night.

HEAR MORE FROM DOUGHERTY TUESDAY MORNING AT 8:10 DURING A LIVE INTERVIEW ON THE WGIL MORNING NEWS. STAY WITH WGIL SPORTS AND WGIL.COM TO BRING YOU MORE DETAILS.
