| Hulls Helps Indiana Upset No. 20 Illinois |
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) -- Jordan Hulls scored 12 of his 18 points in the second half, and Tom Pritchard's tip-in with 44.2 seconds left helped Indiana upset No. 20 Illinois 52-49 on Thursday night.
The Hoosiers (11-10, 2-6 Big Ten) ended a 19-game losing streak against ranked opponents.
Mike Davis had 14 points for the Illini (14-7, 4-4), who lost four of five. It wasn't easy. The Hoosiers didn't score for the first 5:57 of the second half and didn't regain the lead until Hulls' 3-pointer with 7:36 left made it 41-39. His next 3 gave the Hoosiers a 46-42 lead with 5:01 to go, but the Illini scored seven straight points to make it 49-46 with 2:43 left.
Christian Watford then hit two free throws and Pritchard's tip-in gave Indiana a 50-49 lead. Hulls made two fee throws and Illinois missed two 3s to end it. (Copyright 2011 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
