Harbaugh, Beamer have Different Views on Playoff
MIAMI (AP) -- Stanford's Jim Harbaugh and Virginia Tech's Frank Beamer will be on opposite sides of the field for the Orange Bowl on Monday night.

They're also on opposite sides of the debate about whether college football needs a playoff.

Harbaugh says he wishes the game had a tournament in which its national champion is crowned. He says the format at the level formerly known as Division I-AA could work.

Beamer has been a staunch advocate of the bowls system, even though his Hokies could have greatly benefited this year if there was a bracket to decide the nation's best team.
