Cardinals, McClellan Avoid Arbitration at $2.5M
ST. LOUIS (AP) -- The St. Louis Cardinals and right-hander Kyle McClellan have avoided arbitration by agreeing to $2.5 million, one-year deal.

The 27-year-old McClellan replaced injured Adam Wainwright in the rotation last season and was 6-6 with a 4.21 ERA in 17 starts. He was moved to the bullpen after the acquisition of Edwin Jackson at the trade deadline and went 6-1 in 26 relief appearances.

McClellan earned $1,375,000 last season. His deal Tuesday leaves closer Jason Motte as the lone Cardinals player still in arbitration. Motte asked for $2.4 million and was offered $1.5 million.
