HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL
The Western Big 6 conference schedule remains bad news for the Galesburg Silver Streaks. The Streaks are now 0-5 in Western Big 6 Conference play after losing to Rock Island Alleman Friday night 48-42. The Streaks were vastly outscored in the second and third quarters before trying to mount a comeback in the fourth, but were called for 23 fouls in the game versus Alleman's 11. Aslan Butler led the Streaks with 10 points and 7 rebounds. The Streaks have a rare Saturday night off.

Galesburg lost to Jacksonville 41-25, and to Quincy 48-27 in a double-dual meet Friday.
LOCAL SPORTS SATURDAY
Abingdon High School will host the annual "Great Western Shootout" Saturday. A total of seven games will be played, beginning at 10:30 when Knoxville plays United. Other key games include Monmouth-Roseville vs Illinois Valley Central at 3pm, and the Abingdon girls and boys playing Illini West in the final two games of the evening.
The Silver Streaks girls have a pair of games Saturday to finish the Martin Luther King Holiday Tournament. Galesburg plays Peoria Notre Dame at 10:30 in the morning, and then battles Normal University High at 6pm. Coach Evan Massey's team is coming off of Thursday night's win over Quincy.
