HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL
The Galesburg Silver Streaks Girls are 20-game winners once again, thanks to wins to wrap up the Martin Luther King Day tournament. The Streaks defeated Peoria Notre Dame in the early game, 76-72, then took care of Normal U-High 75-56. Sharron Diggins led game 1 with 22 points, followed by 14 each for Myra Diggins and Sadee Hamilton. Jessica Lieber dominated in game 2 with 24 points, followed by Myra Diggins with 13. Morton, however, wins the MLK Tournament after going 5-0.
In the sophomore tournament, GHS lost to Peoria Notre Dame 59-45, then lost to Normal U-High 63-51, finishing the sophomore tournament at 1-3.
The GHS Freshman Girls defeated Monmouth-Roseville Saturday 45-35, to improve their record to 5-7 ahead of Monday's contest vs. Peoria Richwoods.

HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING
Mercer County topped the Bob MItton Invitational Wrestling Tournament Saturday hosted by Orion. Sherrard was second, followed by Oregon, Riverdale, and Orion rounding out the top 5. Among other area teams, Kewanee was 11th, Macomb was 12th, Knoxville was 15th, and Wethersfield was 16th in the 16-team invitational.
HIGH SCHOOL SWIMMING AND DIVING
The GHS Boys Swimming and Diving Team placed 6th at the 31st Annual Panther Invitational hosted by United Township High School. Coach Ray Van Hootegem says his team did well for having a hard week of practice. Peoria Richwoods was the tournament champion, followed by Moline, Rock Island, United Township, and Normal Community rounding out the top 5.
