Wichita State Edges Illinois State 65-62
WICHITA, Kan. (AP) -- Joe Ragland scored 15 points and Wichita State used a fast start to defeat Illinois State 75-72 on Tuesday night.

Toure Murry scored 14 points and Garrett Stutz had 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Shockers (13-3, 4-1 Missouri Valley), who scored the first 11 points and raced to a 22-5 lead. Ragland scored five of his points in the opening 11-0 run.

Illinois State (11-5, 3-2) rallied behind Nic Moore, who scored 20 of his 23 points in the second half. The Redbirds trailed 47-28 with 14:42 to play, but a 24-6 run got Illinois State within 53-52 with 4:05 remaining. But Moore and Tyler Brown, who had 13 points, later missed 3-pointers that would have tied the game.

Stutz and Murry each made a pair of free throws in the final 30 seconds to seal the win.

Jackie Carmichael had 13 rebounds for Illinois State.
