Cubit Relishes Reclamation Project at Illinois
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -- New Illinois offensive coordinator Bill Cubit says he enjoys a reclamation project.

At Illinois, he'll take over an offense that was last in the Big Ten in points scored at just under 17 a game last year. The team went 2-10 and lost its last nine in a row.

Cubit was hired Monday. On Wednesday, he said he's told players they'll have to put last season behind them if they don't want to relive it.

Cubit is still figuring out what kind of offense he'll run but expects to be more balanced than the pass-heavy teams he led as head coach at Western Michigan. The Broncos fired Cubit after last season.

Cubit says it could be summer before he chooses a starting quarterback between Nathan Scheelhaase and Reilly O'Toole.
