|Three Local High School Girls Basketball Teams Remain in Top Ten in Class 1A
|POSTED 11:16 a-m 2/3/10 The Galesburg area continues to boast some of the best high school girls basketball teams in the state.
That's apparent in this week's Associated Press poll, which has three local teams ranked in the top six in Class 1-A. Brimfield (23-3) remains the #1 ranked team, Ridgewood (25-2) stays put at #4 and Knoxville (23-7) dropped one spot to #6. Princeville (17-6), which defeated Ridgewood last week in the Lincoln Trail Conference Tournament championship game, received votes for top ten consideration.
Rock Island Alleman (19-9) of the Western Big Six moved up one spot to #4 in the Class 2A poll. The Pioneers play Galesburg (17-10) Thursday night in the Silver Streaks' regular season home finale. Monmouth-Roseville (19-6) and Kewanee received votes for top ten consideration. Bloomington Central Catholic (23-1) is the top ranked team in Class 2-A.
Peoria Richwoods (16-4) remains at #8 in the Class 3-A poll, which is headed up by Lombard Montini (23-2). Moline (25-1) stays put at #3 in the Class 4-A poll behind second-ranked Whitney Young (20-0) and #1 Bolingbrook (19-1).
