High School Boys Basketball - Postseason

CLASS 1A

@ Oneida:

West Central surprised #2 seeded Rowva 54-40. The Tigers led 30-27 at the half, but the Heat (6-20) dominated the second half - outscoring Rowva 27-10 - including a 13-2 run in the third quarter. Logan Stogdill scored 17 points for West Central. Andrew Kovacik scored 13 to lead Rowva, whose season ends with an 18-11 record.

Wethersfield (15-14) defeated Galva (6-21) 47-37. Kyle Bumphry scored a game-high 21 points for the Flying Geese. Tague Rux led the Wildcats with 10.


---> West Central and Wethersfield play Thursday night for the right to advance to Friday night's regional championship game against the winner of Wednesday night's game between top seeded Orion and (4) Annawan.


@ Williamsfield:

Elmwood (20-9) beat Princeville (7-19) 57-38

Williamsfield (18-12) defeated Abingdon (10-16) 62-46. Alex Ott scored 29 to lead Billtown.

---> Knoxville plays top seed and #4 ranked Brimfield Wednesday night followed by Elmwood and Williamsfield to determine Friday night's regional championship matchup.


@ Havana:

Southeastern beat South Fulton 62-40

Havana defeated West Prairie 62-59

---> Bushnell-Prairie City/Avon meets top seed Lewistown in Wednesday night's first semifinal game followed by Havana and Southeastern.


CLASS 2A

@ Manual:

Peoria Manual beat Peoria Christian 62-46

Canton won against Midwest Central 68-64 in OT

----> Manual and Canton play in the regional championship game Friday night


Local Men's College Basketball

Carl Sandburg College lost to Highland College 88-80 in a game played at Black Hawk East. Jeremy Sewell led the Chargers (13-17, 4-8 Arrowhead Conference) in their regular season finale with 24 points, Isiah Cunningham and Patrick Lewis had 13 apiece and D.T. Thornton added 10. CSC will play at Illinois Valley in the post-season tournament Thursday night at 7:30.
