|High School Boys Basketball - Postseason
Wethersfield defeated West Central 45-37 in a semifinal battle that required an extra period to decide. The Heat (6-21) and the Flying Geese (16-14) played to a 34-34 tie at the end of regulation. Wethersfield then outscored West Central 11-3 in the overtime session to earn the victory. The Heat hurt themselves at the free-throw line, finishing just 7-of-16. Wethersfield made 16-of-29 at the charity stripe. Kyle Bumphrey of Wethersfield led all scorers with 13 points. Brandon Brent paced West Central with 11. Wethersfield takes on top-seed Orion in Friday night's regional championship game.

Peoria Richwoods edged Metamora 58-57 in the Class 3A LaSalle Sectional championship game. The Knights (23-11) move on to Monday night's Streator Supersectional to play Hillcrest, which won the Country Club Hills Sectional.
Edwardsville beat Moline 57-43 in the Class 4A Normal West sectional championship game. The Tigers to the Bloomington Supersectional at Illinois Wesleyan University's Shirk Center to play #1 ranked Bolingbrook , which won the Oswego Sectional championship.
Local College Basketball
Carl Sandburg College's season came to an end Thursday night in the first round of the Region IV Tournament with a 73-63 loss to Illinois Valley. The Chargers were led by Jermey Sewell's 20 points and end the season with a 13-18 record.
Carl Sandburg College lost in the first round of the Region IV Tournament to #2 seed Kishwaukee 72-37. Michelle Storm led CSC in her final game as a Charger with 17 points.
