Streaks Go for Sweep of Maroons; Final Home Game for Victor Davis
Galesburg High School's boys basketball team ends the regular season against a long-time nemesis.

The Silver Streaks meet Moline, a team that's played well since Galesburg snapped a long losing streak at Wharton Fieldhouse on January 22nd and beat the Maroons 45-34, Friday night at John Thiel Gymnasium.

That victory by Galesburg also ended a five-game skid against Moline. The Maroons, despite losing senior starting post Mikel Wismer for the season against Galesburg, have gone 4-2, which includes victories against Quincy and United Township - teams that swept the Silver Streaks this season.

Moline (14-9, 5-4) beat U-T at the Panther Den 63-58 last Friday night and Rockford Auburn the previous Saturday 57-44 at home. The two losses the Maroons suffered were against Peoria Manual (55-38) and Rock Island (47-43). Thomas Lindauer, the second leading scorer in the Western Big Six, led Moline with 19 points in the win at U-T. Tim Wages added 13 and Anthony Lindauer scored 11. The Maroons made eight 3-point baskets in the game.

Galesburg (18-10, 3-6) escaped Don Morris Gymnasium last Friday night with a win against Rock Island Alleman. Brandon Thompson's rebound put-back basket off a missed free throw just before the final buzzer gave the Streaks a 50-49 victory.

Friday is Senior Night for the Silver Streaks - which really means it's "Victor Davis Night." Davis is the lone senior remaining on the roster and leads Galesburg in scoring and rebounding. He scored 20 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in the Streaks' win at Moline.

Galesburg leads the all-time series with Moline 105-88. Pregame coverage begins at 7:06 p-m on WGIL AM 1400 and online at www.wgil.com.

The other Western Big Six game Friday night has a bearing on the conference champion. Quincy (16-6, 7-2) plays at United Township (17-7, 5-4). The Blue Devils would share the Western Big Six title with Rock Island (20-6, 8-2) with a win against the Panthers.
