High School Boys Basketball
-Regular Season-
Moline defeated Galesburg at Thiel Gymnasium in the regular season finale for both teams 37-36.
A three-point basket by the Maroons' Anthony Lindauer from the top of the key with 48 seconds left to play proved to be the game-winner. Senior Victor Davis led Galesburg with 11 points and 10 rebounds in his final home game. Brandon Thompson added 11 points to share team-high scoring honors with Davis.
Thomas Lindauer led all scorers with 12 points for Moline. Anthony Lindauer contributed 11. The Silver Streaks finish the regular season with an 18-11 record and a 3-7 mark in Western Big Six play. Moline improves to 15-10 overall and winds up 6-4 in league play, good for third place.
The Silver Streaks begin postseason play Wednesday night in the Class 3A Geneseo Regional against Dixon (7:30 p-m).
Moline beat Galesburg in the sophomore game 47-45. Joey Juergens led the Silver Streaks with 11 points. GHS ends the season with a 6-17 overall record, including 2-8 in the Western Big Six.
Quincy (18-6) won at United Township (17-7) 71-68 to claim a share of the Western Big Six title with Rock Island. Both the Blue Devils and the Rocks finished league play with 8-2 records. United Township went 5-5 in the Big Six.

Jacksonville Routt (28-6) blew out Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City (26-5) 56-36
Hinkley-Big Rock (32-2) beat Ridgewood (31-3) 49-46 in OT
Ridgewood and Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City play for third place Saturday at 12:15. Routt and Hinckley-Big Rock meet in the state championship game at 2:00.

Bloomington Central Catholic (31-1) cruised past Kankakee McNamara (21-10) 67-40
Quincy Notre Dame (30-2) got past Nashville (26-6) 39-33
Kankakee McNamara and Nashville play for third place at 6:15 Saturday followed by Bloomington Central Catholic and QND in the championship game at 8:00. |
