Knox College Finishes MWC Indoor Track Meet With Best Finishes Since 2000, 2004
The Knox College women's and men's indoor track and field teams had a strong finish to close out the Midwest Conference championship meet, as both teams moved up after the dust settled and the day was over, with the Men's team finishing in seventh place and the women's team finishing in sixth place. The seventh place finish by the men's team is their highest finish since 2000, when Knox tied for sixth place. The sixth place finish by the women's team is their highest finish since 2004, when the women's team also finished in sixth.

In all, many Prairie Fire track and field athletes finished their indoor season on high notes, with 24 season best times or throws in various events. Kristi Weller and Sara Brown both had season best times in the 55 meter dash, with Weller running it in 7.74, good enough for seventh place in the conference, and Brown running a 7.84, some .05 seconds off of qualifying for finals. Weller also had a season best time in the 200 meter dash, posting a 28.29 for 13th place out of 26. Dominque Potts and Jenny Linder both posted season best times in the 400 meter dash, with Potts running 1:08.84 and Linder running 1:12.68. In the 800 meter run, Chloe Bohm and Emma Swanson finished in seventh and eighth place respectively, with Bohm running 2:29.96 and Swanson running 2:30.33. In the 1 mile run, three Knox athletes set season best times; Sara Koehnke (6:30.47), Mary Purrazzo (6:54.16), Zoe Hatton (7:46.37). Purrazzo posted a season best time in the 3k run as well with a time of 14:05.21. The 1600 Sprint Medley team that came in fourth in the MWC set a season best time with a finish of four minutes thirty four seconds. In the field events for the women, Christina Davis had a season best throw of the shot put, taking seventh place with a throw of 10.26m.

For the men's team, David Footle started things off in the 55 meter dash, as he had a season best time of 6.93. Freshman Joe Puntoriero finished in fourth in the 400 meter dash with a season best time of 50.84. In the 800 meter Ian Malone ran a season best 2:35.86. In the one mile run, both Dave Brankin (4:58.24) and Ian Malone (5:38.23) posted season best times. Sean Choate ran a season best in both the 3k (9:58.15) and the 5k (17:15.26). The 1600 sprint medley team placed in fifth with a season best time of 3:42.98, as did the Distance medley team who placed seventh with a time of 11:04.51. In the field events, Adam Kent threw a season best 14.30 to place fourth in the shot put, and Paul Lebryk threw a season best 10.23m in the weight throw.
