High School Girls Basketball

Rowva beat West Central 52-30. Kelsey Kovacik scored 16 points and dished out 7 assists and Courtney Ecklund chipped in with 10 points and 3 steals for the Tigers (11-11). Brittany Simpson scored 12 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and had 3 assists for the Heat (3-19).


Monmouth-Roseville came up short against Hamilton-West Hancock 62-52 in Monmouth in a battle of two teams that are known as the Titans. M-R (19-7) fell behind 29-13 after one quarter of play, but outscored the visitors 16-5 in the second quarter to get within 34-29 at the half. Hamilton-West Hancock (22-4) took a three point lead, 45-42, into the fourth quarter and outscored Monmouth-Roseville 17-10 to come away with the victory. Claire McGuire led Monmouth-Roseville with 15 points. Rebecca Gillen added 11. All-stater Marley Hall scored a game-high 24 for Hamilton-West Hancock.


North Fulton outscored Abingdon 14-3 in the fourth quarter and beat the Commandos 47-34. Beep Jones scored a game-high 23 points for Abingdon (17-11). Meredith Beoletto led the Wildcats (12-11) with 13 points.


#4 Ridgewood (25-2) beat Stark County (13-11) 59-46. The Spartans, undefeated in Lincoln Trail Conference play, can claim the league title with one more conference win.


Princeville topped United 70-57. Mollie Murdock led the Red Storm (11-11) with 17 points. Princeville (17-6) got a career-high 36 point effort from Leah Whittaker.


#1 Brimfield (24-3) cruised past Elmwood (2-23) 60-34


Lewistown (14-12) downed Bushnell-Prairie City/Avon (9-12) 62-42. Bailey Hatfill led the Indians with 16 points. No Spartan player scored in double figures.


Wethersfield (8-15) beat Galva (4-19) 57-34. Kayla Bennett scored 14 points and grabbed 8 rebounds for the Flying Geese. Becca Mahnesmith scored 12 (8 rebounds) and Shelby Steger chipped in with 11 points to go along with 9 assists and 7 steals.


Mercer County (2-20) lost to Rockridge (10-16) 44-38.


South Fulton (19-8) came up short against #5 Havana (24-4) 62-48.


Annawan (18-8) beat Bureau Valley 62-41


Galesburg's freshman team lost to Peoria High 50-41. Rainee Sibley scored 9 points for the Silver Streaks (5-12). Galesburg plays again Monday at Rock Island.


High School Boys Basketball

Galesburg High School's freshman team fell to East Moline 58-50. Drew Nall led the Streaks (7-10) with 10 points.


High School Girls Bowling

Galesburg finished third against Rock Island and United Township in the Streaks' regular season finale at Town and Country Lanes in Rock Island. That's the site of Saturday's sectional. Rocky won the triangular with a 3419 pin total, followed by U-T with 2996 and GHS with 2917. Colleen Weichmann led the Silver Streaks with a 550 three-game series. Her high game was 185. Kendra Weichmann had the team's high game with a 189 and finished behind her sister with a 502.
