Southern Utah in Playoffs After Beating WIU
MACOMB, Ill. (AP) -- Jackson Stevenett scored 15 points as Southern Utah fought off Western Illinois 68-63 on Saturday night.

Ray Jones, Kyle Davis and Damon Heuir added 10 points apiece for the Thunderbirds (10-17, 6-10), who won their second in a row and clinched a spot in the Summit League tournament.

Matt Lander scored a career-high 26 points and almost single-handedly rescued the Leathernecks (7-20, 2-14), but they were eliminated from postseason consideration as their losing streak reached 10. Lander notched his 12th straight double-figure game. Kaimarr Price added 12 points.

The Leathernecks trailed 60-55 with 2:21 to go when Lander began a string of eight straight Western Illinois points that trimmed the deficit to 64-63 with 21 seconds left. But Jones replied with four free throws over the final 18 seconds, and Western Illinois missed two 3-pointers.

Southern Utah made 20 of 32 shots (62.5 percent) and outrebounded Western Illinois 25-18.
