| NFL, Union Resume Mediation for 4th Day in Row |
WASHINGTON (AP) -- There was finally a sliver of news coming out of federally mediated negotiations between the NFL and the players' union today, and it was vaguely encouraging. Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch emerged with a positive outlook after attending a fourth consecutive day of federally mediated negotiations, saying, "Things are going well. We'll see how things progress over the coming days."
Batch and members from both sides of the table won't divulge any details as negotiators have agreed to refrain from discussing the matter with the media.
The league and union agreed to try mediation after months of infrequent and sometimes contentious bargaining. The current labor deal expires at the end of the day March 3.
