Monmouth College will begin the search for a new men's basketball coach after Mark Vershaw stepped down yesterday. In a press release, it was announced that athletic director Roger Haynes accepted Vershaw's resignation Thursday, following a season that saw the Fighting Scots men lose 20 of their 23 games, including only one Midwest Conference win against 17 losses. Vershaw spent four years at Monmouth, after an outstanding prep career at East Peoria, and a standout college career at Wisconsin, where he was the leading scorer on the Badgers final four team in 2001.
