| Monmouth QB Gets Shot at All-Star Game |
MONMOUTH, Ill. (AP) -- Monmouth College quarterback Alex Tanney spent his college career playing in Division III but this weekend he'll take the field on a team likely to include future pros. The (Galesburg) Register-Mail reports that Tanney is scheduled to play in Saturday's Players All-Star Classic in Little Rock, Ark. The game includes players from Divisions I and II and a handful from Division III like Tanney. Steve Bell is Tanney's coach at Monmouth. Bell says the game is a good chance for Tanney to show what he can do on a bigger stage. Tanney threw 167 touchdowns in his college career and was named to the 2011 Associated Press Little All-American Third Team. Tanney is from Lexington, Ill.
