|Danica Wrecks Early in Nationwide Race
|DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Danica Patrick's full-time venture into NASCAR's Nationwide Series is off to a rough start.
Patrick wrecked in Saturday's season opener at Daytona International Speedway, not the way she wanted to start her first full season in stock-car racing.
Patrick began the 300-mile event up front after becoming the first woman to win a NASCAR pole since Shawna Robinson in 1994.
But on lap 50, JR Motorsports teammate Cole Whitt nudged her rear bumper and sent her spinning into the wall. Her frustration was evident from her radio chatter.
Patrick, a former IndyCar star who made the jump to NASCAR, also crashed on the final lap of a qualifying race for the Daytona 500 on Thursday. Much like Saturday's accident, that one wasn't her fault.
