|Girls Basketball Recap
The season is over for the Galesburg High School girls basketball team. The Silver Streaks were upset 55-49 last night by Geneseo at the Dunlap Regional. Coach Evan Massey's team shot the ball 72 times, but made only 19.
After trailing by 12 points in the fourth quarter, the Silver Streaks rallied to briefly take the lead at 47-46 on a steal and layup by Allison Mangieri, but the Maple Leafs made their free throws down the stretch to take the lead back and ice the game.
The Silver Streaks girls finished the season by dropping 6 of their final 7 games to finish with a mark of 18-13. Geneseo heads to Thursday night's Regional title game against Alleman, who rallied from 12-down at halftime to beat Dunlap 47-39.
The final home games of the season for the Knox Prairie Fire ended up with mixed results last night. The men blew a 25 point lead and lost to Illinois College 91-85, while the Knox women posted an 87-75 win. Former Silver Streak Jessica Howard led Knox with 18 points. The Prairie Fire will be on the road this Saturday at Carroll College in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
