HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL
The Galesburg Silver Streaks Boys Basketball team got a non-conference victory over Blue Island Eisenhower Saturday, 79-63. Grant Gibson led the Streaks with 22 points, with only two of those coming from the three-point line. The Streaks sank only one three-point shot in the game. Ethan Meeker scored 17 en route to the victory for Galesburg as well. Despite the loss, all but two of Eisenhower's players scored in the game.
The GHS Sophomore Boys also beat Eisenhower 63-55. Kivontay Shaw led the Streaks with 20 points. The Freshman boys lost to Eisenhower 48-47.
The Silver Streaks Girls couldn't pull off the victory at home against New Trier Saturday, 55-48, marking their fifth straight loss. Jessica Lieber and Haley Kelso were the only Streaks scoring double figures with 13 and 12 points respectively. The Sophomores, however, won their final home game of the season against New Trier, 59-51. Jordan Koehler scored 14 for the Streaks in that game, followed by 13 point efforts by both Kailyn Boydstun and Macy Steck.
Kewanee Wethersfield is the Lincoln Trail Conference Champion in Boys Basketball. The Flying Geese beat Galva 57-54. Ridgewood got the consolation championship by beating ROWVA 70-51.
The Knoxville girls ended the regular season yesterday with a victory, 69-34 over Beardstown.
LOCAL COLLEGE BASKETBALL
A buzzer-beater doomed the Knox College women's basketball team Saturday, as they lost at Lake Forest 89-88. The Lake Forest men also beat Knox 71-53.
A late-three pointer in overtime cost the Carl Sandburg College women a victory over Highland, 63-62. The C-S-C men fell to first-place Highland 74-70, also in overtime.

HIGH SCHOOL BOWLING
The Galesburg High School Girls Bowling team placed 14th at the IHSA Sectional tournament Saturday at Highland Park. Ashton Lucero's 929 series topped all Streaks players. Moline was the Sectional champion. |
