| Peavey Says He's Ready After Minor League Start |
GOODYEAR, Ariz. (AP) -- Jake Peavy snorted, grunted and snarled his way through seven innings in a minor league game Saturday against Cincinnati Reds Triple-A farmhands.
After his 112-pitch outing, the Chicago White Sox right-hander and former Cy Young Award winner pronounced himself ready to go into the regular season.
Peavy allowed seven runs on 12 hits, striking out four in his longest outing of the spring.
Peavy gave up a few hard hits and was victimized by some bloopers that fell in front of his outfielders for hits. He surrendered a home run to Luis Terrero, a former White Sox player, and a bomb of a triple to dead center field that hit the batter's eye above the 405-feet sign.
