Colvin Has Four Hits in Cubs, Padres Tie
MESA, Ariz. (AP) -- Tyler Colvin, bidding for the final spot on the Cubs' roster, homered, tripled, singled twice and drove in two runs Saturday as Chicago and a San Diego Padres split squad played to a 2-2, 10-inning tie.

Colvin, a 24-year-old outfielder, raised his spring average to .475 and leads all major league batters with 28 hits.

Clayton Richard took a major step toward locking up the No. 4 spot in San Diego's rotation by holding the Cubs to one run and four hits over five innings. He struck out seven and walked three in his second consecutive strong start.

One day after winning one of the two open spots in the Cubs' rotation, Carlos Silva allowed two runs and seven hits in 5 1-3 innings.
