| Scots' Seiler Named MWC Softball Position Performer of Week |
Monmouth College sophomore Morgan Seiler has been nearly automatic at the plate this season and has been named the Midwest Conference Position Performer of the Week in softball.
Seiler, a Chillicothe native, leads the Fighting Scots in three offensive categories and is tied for the lead in another.
The slugging shortstop leads the squad with a whopping .525 average on 21-of-40 hitting and a .725 slugging percentage and has driven in a team-high 12 runs. Her 10 runs scored also ties her for the team lead.
Seiler's solid bat was never more evident than in Monmouth's 4-3 come-from-behind win over Robert Morris-Springfield last Saturday. Trailing by a run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Seiler needed a base hit to tie the game, but she did one better, doubling in two runs for the walk-off win.
Seiler gave a preview of things to come during Monmouth's spring trip to Arizona. She connected for her first career grand slam in a game against Aquinas College (Mich.). She is riding a seven-game hitting streak that includes three straight three-hit games. Seiler has multiple hits in seven of her 12 games this season.
