|Wisniewski Named Prairie Fire Performer of Week
|Brittany Wisniewski, a freshman from Park Ridge, Illinois (Maine South), has been named the Knox College Performer of the Week for her performance over Spring Break.
The Prairie Fire third baseman led the Prairie Fire to a 5-5 record while hitting .303 over those 10 games.
Wisniewski has shown she can hit for power at the collegiate level, with five of her 10 base hits going for extra-bases. Through her first 10 games she has hit two doubles, one triple, and two home runs while driving in a team-high 18 runs.
Wisniewski's most impressive performance this season so far was during the Fire's 9-5 win against Mount Ida College in Cocoa Beach, Florida March 16th. With the game tied at 5-5 in the bottom of the ninth and the bases loaded, Wiesniewski hit a walk-off grand slam to give Knox a 9-5 win.
During a double header against Iowa Wesleyan Wisniewski added her 19th RBI of the season and ripped a triple, her second of the season, down the third base line. She later scored, helping to account for both of the Prairie Fire's runs in the 13-2 loss.
Wisniewski and her teammates travel to Springfield, Illinois this weekend to take part in the Robert Morris Tournament starting at 2 p-m Friday, April 2, 2010.
