High School Sports News
A two-sport standout from Monmouth-Roseville High School will make her college plans official this week. Rebecca Gillen, who earned numerous accolades in volleyball and was named to the Class 2A second-team all-state basketball team this past season for the Titans, is signing a letter of intent to attend and play volleyball at St. Ambrose University. Gillen helped the M-R girls basketball team complete its best season in the history of the Monmouth-Roseville consolidation. The Titans, under coach Jim Cole, won their first Olympic Conference title and finished with a 22-7 record.
Gillen's brother Ben, who excelled in basketball and golf at Monmouth-Roseville, currently attends St. Ambrose. Rebecca Gillen is scheduled to sign on Friday at 3 p-m in the Monmouth-Roseville High School gymnasium.
