| Patrick Breaks Record, R. Gordon on Probation |
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Danica Patrick ended up a career-best fourth in Saturday's Nationwide Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway won by veteran driver Mark Martin. Patrick's finish is the best by a woman in a national NASCAR race since Sara Christian took fifth at Pittsburgh in 1949 in the Cup Series.
Also: NASCAR has placed Robby Gordon on probation for an incident involving Kevin Conway in the garage at Las Vegas Motor Speedway late Friday afternoon. According to vice president of competition Robin Pemberton, NASCAR officials didn't witness the run-in between the drivers, which was brought to NASCAR's attention by Conway. He says the period of Gordon's probation has yet to be determined.
Las Vegas police tell The Associated Press that Conway filed a misdemeanor battery complaint after the quarrel that occurred about 5 p.m.
Conway briefly drove for Gordon in the Sprint Cup Series last year, and both drivers are now suing each other over financial aspects of that deal.
