| All in for White Sox; Can They Overtake Twins? |
CHICAGO (AP) -- The Chicago White Sox are calling their decision go for it in the AL Central "All In." They skipped rebuilding mode and spent the offseason spending money to win right now.
Manager Ozzie Guillen and his former teammate, general manger Ken Williams, have patched up a relationship that got rocky last season.
Now it's time to see if the money spent -- the payroll could be around $125 million -- produces a winner. The new faces include slugger Adam Dunn, who signed a four-year, $56 million contract. The Sox also brought back Paul Konerko and veteran catcher A.J. Pierzynski.
The White Sox open the season Friday at Cleveland. Ace Mark Buehrle is expected to start. (Copyright 2011 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
