| Vazquez Helps Marlins Beat Cardinals |
JUPITER, Fla. (AP) -- Javier Vazquez pitched 6 2-3 innings of five-hit ball and the Florida Marlins beat the St. Louis Cardinals 4-2 Tuesday.
Vazquez allowed one run, struck out four and walked one. The right-hander, who went 1-1 with a 4.57 ERA in five spring starts, will make his season debut Sunday against the New York Mets.
Florida is unbeaten in its last 10 games of spring training, including a tie. Cardinals left-hander Jaime Garcia struck out seven over six sparkling innings in his best start of the spring. He gave up one run and three hits.
The Marlins scored three runs in the eighth inning. Scott Cousins had a run-scoring double and Aaron Mathews added a sacrifice fly.
