| Panthers Stop Blackhawks' 8-Game Winning Streak |
SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) -- David Booth had a goal and an assist and the Florida Panthers held on to beat Chicago 3-2 on Tuesday night and end the Blackhawks' eight-game winning streak. The victory also snapped Florida's season high five-game losing streak and gave Panthers coach Pete DeBoer his 100th NHL win.
Clay Wilson and Marty Reasoner scored first-period goals to give Florida a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes. Tomas Vokoun made 36 saves as he improved to 8-3 in his last 11 games against Chicago.
Marian Hossa and Patrick Kane scored for the Blackhawks, who hadn't lost since a 4-3 setback against Columbus on Feb. 18. Their winning streak was the longest active run in the league and the second-longest this season. (Copyright 2011 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
