NCAA
The 68-team NCAA men's basketball tournament gets under way tonight in Dayton with the so-called ``first four'' tipping it off. UNC-Asheville takes on Arkansas Little Rock followed by Alabama-Birmingham playing Clemson in another first-round game.
The 64-team NCAA women's field is out with defending national champion Connecticut, Tennessee, Baylor and Stanford the No. 1 seeds in the tournament that begins Saturday. The Huskies will be trying for their third consecutive title when the women's tourney concludes April 5 in Indianapolis.
Jeff Capel is out as Oklahoma men's basketball coach. He was fired after a second straight losing season, the first time that's happened to the Sooners since 1967. |
