Rockford Auburn Takes 3rd Place in IHSA Class 4A Basketball
PEORIA, Ill. (AP) -- Fred VanVleet scored 22 points and Rockford Auburn beat Chicago Heights Bloom, 57-46, to take third place in Class 4A at the IHSA boys basketball state finals on Saturday at Carver Arena.

VanVleet ran the point for the Knights (32-3), handing out five assists while grabbing four rebounds, making three steals and blocking two shots. He helped harass Bloom into 19 turnovers which the Knights turned into 15 points.

LaMark Foote scored 13 points and hauled in five rebounds for the Knights and Tramel Rideout chipped in nine points and nine rebounds.

Donald Moore scored 16 and grabbed 10 rebounds for Auburn and Johnny Griffin added 13 rebounds but did not score. Dejahown Freeman chipped in nine points and seven rebounds for Bloom (28-5).
