|HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL
The opening weekend of high school baseball has the Galesbug Silver Streaks at the .500 mark. The Streaks split their pair of games at the Silver Streak Invitational Saturday, losing to Rockford Guilford 5-1, but defeating Glenbard East 5-0. Austin Gernant was the losing pitcher in Game 1after going only a little more than two innings, while Tim Rossell went 5 innings for the victory in game 2.
The Silver Streaks sophomores lost to Normal West in game one of their portion of the tournament 5-3, but defeated Moline in their second game, 10-9, in 8 innings.

HIGH SCHOOL TRACK
The Galesburg Silver Streaks boys and girls teams hosted a number of teams Saturday at their own Indoor Invitational at Monmouth College. The Streaks did well. The boys teams took first place in every relay race, while the girls got first place finishes in the Shot Put and the 1600 meter run. No team scores were kept.
Carl Sandburg Colelge's softball team split a double-header with Ellsworth Community College Saturday, winning game 1 7-5, but losing game 2 4-3. Sandburg plays at John Wood Community College Sunday at noon. Sandburg's next home game is Wednesday March 21st against Robert Morris at 3 p.m.
