Whitney Young Tops Edwardsville for Class 4A Title
NORMAL, Ill. (AP) -- Whitney Young bolted to a huge first-half lead then coasted to an easy 63-51 win against Edwardsville to win the Class 4A girls title.

The win Saturday finishes an undefeated season for the Dolphins. It also gives coach Corry Irvin career win No. 300 in 11 years at the school.

Linnae Harper led the way for Whitney Young, scoring 14 and grabbing 14 rebounds. Janee Thompson added 12 points, Taylor Brame 11 and Alexis Lloyd nine.

The Dolphins raced to a 34-12 halftime lead behind nine points from Lloyd and seven points and 11 rebounds from Harper and never trailed in the game.

Ashia Jones led the Tigers with 18 points and 11 rebounds while Emmonnie Henderson finished with 10 and eight, respectively. Aaliyah Covington chipped in nine points.
