Rockford Lutheran Places 3rd in IHSA Class 2A Tourney
PEORIA, Ill. (AP) -- Thomas Kopelman's eight 3-pointers led Rockford Lutheran to a third-place Class 2A finish with a 55-51 win over Seton Academy at the IHSA boys basketball state finals.

Kopelman easily set the Class 2A record Saturday and tied the all-time state finals record for 3-pointers made in a game. The 2A record was five.

Kopelman had 26 points overall.

Lutheran led by as many as 12 points in the first half before the Sting made a run at the game in the second half, even pulling ahead 46-45 with just less than five minutes to go.

But a tip-in by Teyvious Montgomery put the Crusaders back on top and two free throws each by Nate Wieting, Montgomery and Kopelman closed out the game.
