|The Silver Streaks Boys Basketball Team was vying for their first Regional Championship in 12 years Friday night when they hosted 21-8 Quincy Notre Dame at John Theil Gymnasium. And at the final buzzer, the Streaks accomplished that goal with a 45-39 win. The Streaks advance to the Peoria Sectional semi-final on Wednesday night where they will face Peoria Central.
Tickets for the Streaks' game in Peoria go on sale Monday afternoon from 3-5pm at the Galesburg High School main office.
Meanwhile, the #7 ranked Monmouth-Roseville Titans where vying for their first Sweet-Sixteen win in the consolidated school's history when they faced Fieldcrest in the Farmington Sectional final Friday night. It was a re-match of last year's Sweet Sixteen game that saw Fieldcrest beat the Titans in double overtime. This time, however, was a different story as Monmouth-Roseville squeeked past Fieldcrest 39-38. Next up for the Titans will be the state's 2nd ranked team in Class 2A and undefeated Winnebago Tuesday night in the DeKalb Super-Sectional.
