High School Softball

Galesburg won a close game against West Central 10-9 despite being outhit 14-6. Jessica Davison went 3-for-3 at the plate for the Silver Streaks (6-5) and earned the win in a relief pitching role. She tossed five innings, gave up six hits and struck out seven.

United shut out ROWVA 6-0. Katie Bertelsen shut out the Tigers (4-7) on a one-hitter and struck out 13. Kaitlyn Winkler led the Red Storm (9-2) with two hits - a double and a triple. Britta Johnson had the lone hit for the Tigers, which came with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Monmouth-Roseville (3-7) won at Macomb 7-4

Ridgewood (5-4) beat Annawan-Wethersfield 13-3

Stark County defeated Galva 4-1

Brimfield-Elmwood (13-3) downed Bushnell-Prairie City/Avon (2-8) 6-1. Justine Bodenhamer had the Spartans' only hit in the game.


High School Baseball

Monmouth-Roseville (5-1) won an Olympic Conference matchup at Macomb 11-10

Rowva (11-1) shut out United (3-4) 4-0

Annawan-Wethersfield beat Ridgewood 17-2

Galva-Williamsfield blanked Stark County 10-0

Galesburg's sophomore baseball team defeated Pekin 13-1 to improve to 12-2 on the season

Galesburg's freshman team lost to Moline 11-1


High School Track and Field

Galesburg's boys team won a dual meet against Geneseo 98-48. The Silver Streaks won all but two of the field events.


Local College Sports

Baseball

Carl Sandburg College split a doubleheader against Kishwaukee College. The Chargers were blown out 26-2 in the first game then came back to win the finale 8-5


Softball

Highland College swept a doubleheader against Carl Sandburg College 6-5 and 5-1

Robert Morris College of Springfield swept Knox College in a twinbill 9-0 and 8-0


Junior College Track and Field

Costa had its first track meet of the season Monday afternoon at Macomb. The Fryers competed against Carthage, Macomb and West Praire.

Top finishers for Costa boys 7th grade:

110 Hurdles: Carl O Connor with a time of 21.65 for 3rd place.
100 Mete Dash: Mark Mangieri with a time of 14.02 for 4th place
4 x 200: Mangieri, O Connor, Nick Main and Josh Heimann with a time of 2:10.3 for 2nd place.
4 x 100: Mangieri, O Connor, Main and Heimann with a time of 1:02.0 for 3rd place.
Shot Put: Joey Lucero with a throw of 25 Feet for 5th place.

Top finishers for the Costa girls 7th grade:

1600 Meters: Lizzy Gabarro with a time of 6:24.9 for 1st place.
1600 Meters: Ryan Block with a time of 6:29.2 for 2nd place.
4 x 200: Janet Alfano, Amanda Lansing, Carly Kurtz and Olympia Carter with a time of 2:28.1 for 4th place.
4 x 100: Alfano, Kurtz, Meredith Krisher and Carter with a time of 1:09.0 for 4th place.
400 Meter Dash: Cindy Ladner with a time of 1:14.9 for 4th place.
Shot Put: Cierra Hambsch with a throw of 25' 1 1/2" for 2nd place.

Top finishers for the Costa girls 8th grade:

100 Meter Dash: Megan Ladner with a time of 13.86 for 2nd place.
4 x 100: Dani Gutierrez, Anna Pendargast, Gabarro and Carolynn Day with a time of 1:02.0 for 2nd place.
400 Meter Dash: Megan Ladner with a time of 1:07.7 for 1st place.
800 Meter Run: Megan Ladner with a time of 3:04.3 for 2nd place.
Long Jump: Pendergast with a jump of 13' 6" for 2nd place.

Costa's next track meet is Saturday, April 17 at Farmington at 4 PM.
