|Lehr, Reschke Named Recognized by Midwest Conference
|Monmouth College seniors Gloria Lehr and Luke Reschke have been named the Midwest Conference Performers of the Week in track and field after stellar performances at last weekend's Lee Calhoun Invitational which featured numerous Division I schools.
Lehr - honored by the conference as the Women's Field Event Performer of the Week - threw two personal-bests that included provisional qualifying marks in two of her three events. The senior math and physics major popped a provisional mark of 145'10" in the discus to place third, less than 4' out of second place. The mark was a personal-best by more than 8'. She also ripped off a career-best and provisional throw in the shot put. Her mark of 42'6-1/4" placed her sixth. She completed the day with a seventh place finish in the hammer throw where she had an effort of 150'1", just 2" out of sixth. Lehr's discus mark is the conference's top mark by nearly 30' and is third nationally. Her shot put also leads the league and Lehr's hammer throw is the league leader by 8'.
Reschke - the conference Men's Track Performer of the Week - punched his provisional ticket to the NCAA Outdoor Championship in the 400-meter dash. The senior business and physical education major finished second in the 400 where he clocked a conference-leading 48.43. He also placed seventh in the 200 with a time of 22.49. He also ran legs on the fifth place 4x100 relay which clocked a 42.61 and the sixth place 4x400 which posted a league-best 3:20.45.
