High School Baseball

Abingdon scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and beat Orion 10-4. Brandon Harroun had three hits and three RBIs for the Commandos (12-9). Dylan Timmons tossed a complete game six-hitter and struck out six to pick up the win. Orion falls to 13-3 with the loss.

Brimfield-Elmwood (18-4) defeated ROWVA (12-2) 4-2

Annawan-Wethersfield beat Knoxville 11-8

Ridgewood (4-11) routed Unity Christian 15-1

Illini West held West Prairie (4-8) to two hits in a 12-1 Chargers victory


High School Softball

Geneseo defeated Galesburg 8-2. Jessica Davison was saddled with the loss in the circle. She surrendered eight earned runs and 12 hits with three strikeouts. Kelsey McKillip had two of the Silver Streaks' eight hits. Davison and Jordan Marshall each drove in a run for Galesburg (6-9). Geneseo won the junior varsity game with Galesburg 14-0.

Orion blanked Abingdon 4-0. The Commandos (12-3) had just three hits in the game - two of them from Kelsey Sharp. Sharp also was tagged with the loss in the circle.

Sherrard shut out ROWVA 10-0. The Tigers were held to four hits in the game. The Tigers broke open a scoreless game with three runs in the fifth inning and seven in the sixth inning - including a grand slam.

Knoxville won at Annawan-Wethersfield 11-8

Illini Bluffs defeated Williamsfield 11-1. I-B scored nine runs in the first inning. The Bombers had two hits in the game, including an RBI single by Sam Josephson.

United's Katie Bertelsen threw a one-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts in the Red Storm's 10-0 win against Mercer County. Kelsey Crain and Kaitlyn Winkler combined to drive in half of United's runs.

Bushnell-Prairie City/Avon outslugged West Central 12-10. Katie Lopez had three hits and drove in four runs for the Spartans (4-8). Brittany Slater had two hits and two RBIs. Jaycie Leathers added three hits and an RBI and Taylor Elder drove in a run. Mariah Brooks and Madison Newberry each had three hits for the Heat. Newberry drove in three runs. Justine Dillard added a pair of hits and two RBIs. West Central had 14 hits in the game to the Spartans' eight. Corin Bodenhamer picked up the win with two shutout innings of relief for B-PC/A.


High School Girls Soccer

Galesburg tied Geneseo 1-1. The Silver Streaks' Tai Peachey scored at the seven minute mark of the first half. Sarah Katchen had 18 saves in goal. Geneseo won the junior varsity contest 8-2.

High School Boys and Girls Track and Field

Bushnell-Prairie City/Avon-West Prairie won the Muggs McGinnis Relays at Bushnell. The host team combined (boys and girls scores) for 219 points. Knoxville finished second (188), Ridgewood third (169), United fourth (159) and Galva fifth (125). West Central (90), North Fulton (79) and South Fulton (49) rounded out the field.
