Galesburg's Nick Milligan hit a tie-breaking grand slam in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead the Silver Streaks (11-7) past Peoria Richwoods 5-1.
A three-run home run in the sixth inning was the difference as Brimfield-Elmwood (19-4) defeated Abingdon (12-10) 9-6
North Fulton (12-5) plated two runs in the sixth inning to snap a tie ballgame and beat Knoxville 7-5
Bushnell-Prairie City/Avon (2-15) lost to South Fulton (7-8) 14-4
Galva-Williamsfield shut out Mercer County 7-0
High School Softball
Abingdon and North Fulton split a doubleheader. The Commandos (15-4) won the first game 9-2. The Wildcats (13-5) avoided a sweep by winning the finale 4-2.
Ridgewood swept a doubleheader against ROWVA 5-4 and 8-3
Galesburg's freshman team beat Rock Island 4-3. Katie McGee went the distance and struck out nine to earn the win. Jordan Lovell had two hits for the Silver Streaks.
Illinois Wesleyan 13, Monmouth 3 (9-18)
The Scots got on the board quickly with three runs in the first inning on Wednesday, but Illinois Wesleyan answered with a pair of two-run homers in their half of the inning on their way to handing the Scots a 13-3 loss. The Titans added another two-run shot in the fifth and a grand slam in the eighth to keep Monmouth from threatening. Terry Davis picked up three hits in the game for the Scots.
Augustana College was a rude guest, sweeping a doubleheader at Knox College Wednesday afternoon.
The Vikings banged out 12 hits against Prairie Fire pitching and won the first game 10-2. Leading the Prairie Fire were freshman Britt Wisniewski senior co-captain Cheyenne Cortez. Wisniewski went 2-for-3 and scored a run. Cortez drove in both runs when she smashed a double to right-center field in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Knox College's pitching held the Vikings to eight hits in comparison in the second game. The Fire again scored two runs but it wasn't enough as Augie claimed a 4-2 victory. Regina Cloyd led the team with two hits (2-for-4) and scored a run. Beth McRill and Cassie Milleville each delivered an RBI.
Knox resumes play this weekend. The Prairie Fire travel to Lake Forest Saturday then return home Sunday to play Illinois College. The seniors will be honored during the games against the Lady Blues as they play at home for the last time in their college careers.
